As he returns home, James Bisheko, of Uganda, proposed a project- Village Platform for Development (VIP for Development), developed during his four month fellowship at ICRT. Supported by the Research and Exchanges Board (IREX), a program of the US Department of State, Mr. Bisheko completed a strategic plan to increase service providers’ transparency and utilization of feedback to improve service delivery and project management in the Nakapiripirit District of Uganda. Nakapiripirit District is part of the Karamoja region, a region that lags behind in all areas of development. Mr. Bisheko’s primary objectives are to improve communication skills and effectively engage service providers, providing them with feedback for improvement, and to establish appropriate channels and information flow. Finally, Mr. Bisheko hopes to increase the awareness of the need for improved community participation and project ownership among service providers.
